Sister act

Deloris Van Cartier (Whoopi Goldberg), a nightclub singer, witnesses the murder of an employee by her boyfriend Vince Larocco who turns out to be a gangster leader. She goes to the police with her story. Deciding that Omdat Vince will now certainly want to get rid of her, the police decide to hide Deloris in a convent for her own safety until the hearing. Deloris is taken into the convent as a nun named Zuster Mary Clarence. Only the mother superior knows she is not a real nun. She does not really feel at home in the quiet and boring convent, but she soon makes friends. After sneaking out with two other sisters to go to a bar, she is put in the choir by the mother superior as punishment. With no other choice, she decides to liven things up in the convent and use her singing talent to teach the nuns (who sing particularly out of tune) how to sing, and in doing so immediately make the church near the convent a bit more inviting to the public again. The next mass everyone is surprised by a swinging group of sisters. Thanks to her good work, Deloris even ends up on TV. Meanwhile, a corrupt police officer manages to trace that a large donation from the police was made to the convent, allowing the gangsters to know she is in the convent and Deloris's old gangster boyfriend comes for a visit. Deloris is kidnapped. The mother superior tells the other nuns about Deloris's true identity, and all the nuns go after her and try to save her. Meanwhile, Vince orders his henchmen to shoot Deloris, but thinking she is now a real nun they dare not do this and Deloris manages to escape. With the help of the nuns, the bad guys can eventually be arrested.
