Alexandra Jaquet - Hand conversations, the performance
Wed, 4 Nov 2026 · 19:00–20:30
Schouwburg Kortrijk, Kortrijk
€5
Discover the power of small gestures during Hand Conversations, a warm and intimate theater experience where words are unnecessary. With this poetic and calming performance full of attention and human connection, Alexandra Jacquet opens the new UTOOP hall.
Two people sit opposite each other. No script, no arrangements, no expectations. A hand appears on the table. Across from it, another hand appears. What follows is a conversation without words.
Encounter beyond language
In Handconversaties artist Alexandra Jacquet explores how we connect with each other beyond language. Through simple gestures, encounters emerge that are sometimes playful, sometimes moving, and sometimes surprisingly confrontational. Hands listen, answer, hesitate, invite, and tell stories without uttering a single word.
For this special opening night, the practice of Hand Conversations grows into a poetic theater experience. Various encounters unfold before your eyes, carried by attention, silence, and human closeness. As a spectator, you are taken into a world where small gestures gain great significance.
Opening of the UTOOP hall
It is no coincidence that this performance opens our new UTOOP hall. Just like this new place, Hand Conversations invites slowing down, curiosity, and connection. Do not expect a traditional performance, but a unique experience that makes you look differently at encounters, intimacy, and the power of human attention.
