Minnie Maes is a gray mouse. The smallest, quietest, most invisible of them all. Until she decides that it is enough. In a world that is becoming ever harder and uglier — or as she says: hard-uglier— she retreats into her apartment.\n\nIn Molenstraat 103 bus 5 is Minnie empress. Here she swings the scepter, burns her mouse-ness and determines the rules herself. But are you allowed to spit fire in a world that is already burning? And what happens when the outside world knocks on your door again?\n\nIn this musical monologue actress Veerle Baetens gives shape to a woman who balances between loneliness, power and doubt. Muzikant Bo Spaenc weaves with live music a second voice through her story. Together they create a universe in which word, song and music challenge, support and contradict each other.\n\nHere, I as empress - Molenstraat 103/bus 5 is about the question of how we relate to a world that sometimes overwhelms us, but which we at the same time cannot let go of. At the same time it is about how loud it can be in a head that feels too much.\n\nVeerle Baetens is an actress, director, screenwriter and singer. She broke through internationally with her lead role in The Broken Circle Breakdown and recently made her film directing debut with The Melting, based on the novel by Lize Spit. For this performance she goes back on stage.\n\nBo Spaenc is known for his versatile music theater. As artistic leader of Muziektheater De Kolonie and later as a freelancer he worked together with strong storytellers such as Lucas Van den Eynde, Peter De Graef, Tania Van der Sanden, Bart Hollanders, Warre Borgmans, Vic De Wachter, Stefaan Degand and Bruno Vanden Broecke.
