The Swing Brigade: Frederic Gairard, Nelson Hage, Antoine Maes

La Brigade du Swing is above all resolutely feel-good music, inspired by the 20s-50s, where gypsy jazz takes on gypsy accents. Avec la Brigade du Swing, you will hear: unpublished covers of Django Reinhardt, original arrangements of pieces by Alexandre Borodine and Jo Privat, as well as nods to the American swing of Cole Porter and the be-bop of Charlie Parker. A journey to the heart of swing and Be Bop, festive and warm, which invites everyone to rediscover the taste of the present moment. Frédéric Gairard (violin) – Trained at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, this violin jazz enthusiast is active on the stages of the south of France and Brussels. He performs in several festivals, such as the Djangofolies, the Festival de Jazz at Château de Cagnes-sur-Mer, the evenings of the Pesquière in Saint-Tropez, or the Festival de Jazz de Saint-Raphaël, with projects such as The Swingsons, Les Contes of Alfonsina, Mosaïque Duo, and BalKaviK. He has collaborated with renowned musicians such as Marcel Râmba, Tcha Limberger, Jacqueline Baghasaryan, and Nicolas Hauzeur. Nelson Hage (guitar) – In love with gypsy music, he trained with big names such as Tcha Limberger and Angelo Debarre. Very active on the Belgian swing scene, he has shared the stage with Roby Lakatos, Samy Daussat, Léo Ullmann, and Damien Levasseur, and was the leader for four years of the Mimosa Quartet. Today, he composes his own pieces and develops new projects, notably with Renaud Dardenne and Alexandre Tripodi. Antoine Maes (double bass) – Curious and a jack-of-all-trades, Antoine started music with the electric bass before falling in love with the double bass, which led him to train at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles in jazz.
