Tutu Puoane - Sings Roberta Flack

Voor de Zuid-African-Belgian singer Tutu Puoane was Roberta Flack a childhood heroine and a source of inspiration. Perhaps it is no coincidence that Tutu’s warm vocal sound and sensitive musical approach are regularly compared to those of Flack. Her intense soul sound goes straight to the heart. Tutu Puoane translates well-known and lesser-known songs by Roberta Flack to the stage: Killing Me Softly With His Song, Feel Like Makin’ Love, Where Is the Love, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, and Ballad of the Sad Young Men. Tutu brings this personal homage with a group of top musicians with whom she has built a close musical bond. Especially in the seventies, Roberta Flack grew into a world star. With her soft voice, strong piano playing, and emotional interpretations, she gave a very own color to soul, jazz, r&b, and pop. Recently, Tutu Puoane was with Bart Peeters in ten sold-out Lotto Arenas. Furthermore, she enters into collaborations with, among others, the Brussels Jazz Orchestra. She also sets up her own projects such as her double album Wrapped in Rhythm and the Joni Mitchell Project.
