They quickly became known as De Zes van Antwerpen, a label that, despite their divergent visions, made them into a mythical unity. But was that group identity reality, or above all a construction of (or for) the outside world? De Zes van Antwerpen dive into their shared history and friendship in this extraordinary documentary, and show what connects them. At the same time, in their personal stories, they also show how incredibly different their individual paths, design practices, and visions of fashion are. After his previously appreciated documentaries about Dries Van Noten and Martin Margiela, German director Reiner Holzemer (who knew absolutely nothing about fashion or the fashion world before making his documentaries) has now documented the definitive story of De Zes – especially since Marina Yee, who passed away in 2025, also contributed to the film.
