A historic company from East London, Boy Blue unveils with Cycles, a magnetic ensemble that blends fluidity and groove. To rhythmic music, nine dancers reveal the joyful energy and rebellious spirit of hip-hop dances, where unison and powerful solos draw the audience into an infinite movement. Their ambition? To create an intergenerational community dedicated to hip-hop dances. In 2001, composer Michael “Mikey J” Asante, MBE and choreographer Kenrick “H2O” Sandy, MBE created the group Boy Blue in the Est de Londres. Twenty-five years later, the company has established itself as a reference, continuing to explore the issues of hip-hop on theater stages. Cycles is proof of this. Nine dancers bring out the iconic gestures of hip-hop dances in choreographies with fascinating fluidity, which highlights the irresistible force of the groove. Through unisons and solos reminiscent of the energy of battles, they make the singularities of British hip-hop shine, imbued with UK garage, grime, jungle, and Caribbean influences. Inspired by the Japanese Zen symbol of the ensō, the choreography unfolds in an infinite movement.
