Roeshoofd - TRAUM

‘TRAUM’ is the second performance by Roeshoofd, inspired by the cult graphic novel ‘Maus’ by Art Spiegelman. Simon De Vos wrote a new theater text for this. Siem, a young thirty-something, is at a crossroads in his life. His career as a theater director is not getting off the ground and the recognition he desires from his father Garnik is not coming. For his new theater performance, Siem decides to record interviews with his father in the hope of finding answers to questions about a complex and painful war past. What follows is a reconstruction in which he tries to find out who he is today and above all, who he wants to be. By situating the story in an indefinite time and place and using animal masks, it becomes an absurd allegory about a great war between Foxes and Rabbits. ‘TRAUM’ is a search for what traces a beastly past leaves behind in the generations that follow.
