Expo: Nini Ruiz - Still Rising... in the Space Between

We constantly move within structures aimed at visibility, direction, and utility. These structures determine not only how we look and speak, but also how we present ourselves. Everything seems to be dedicated to productivity, but that is not a neutral concept. It imposes a rhythm, an expectation to which we must adapt. In that continuous striving, we risk losing something essential: the body changes from a feeling being into a functional instrument, and time is no longer experienced, but planned. This project is a reaction to that movement. My approach is holistic: every recording is a moment of connection, an attempt to truly be present with what presents itself. I focus not only on the subject itself, but on the energy it carries – on what flows between things, rather than on what they capture. Images can show something that language often cannot encompass. They move beyond meaning, beyond explanation. In that space I seek vulnerability – not as something that must be overcome, but as something that may be borne. Vulnerability means to me not fragility, but openness. It is the unhidden, the vibration just beneath the skin of reality. That search demands a different tempo. No haste, but presence. My work aims to open a space in which we may let go of what we have learned about how we must be. A place in which we can reconnect – with ourselves, with others, with nature around us. Away from imposed forms and societal expectations. In that space, slowing down becomes a choice; a subtle resistance. Every image is part of a continuous attempt to capture the intangible, without fixing it. A movement of searching, of being sensory, of revealing. When we approach photography from its philosophy, it appears as a form of silence: a stationary moment that eludes the pace of the world. This photo project uses that approach as a starting point. Photography is deployed as an installation – as a medium to make deceleration and silence tangible: moments in time that invite presence and reflection.
