Wolfgang Muthspiel CONFLUENCE feat. Linda May Han Oh and Lionel Loueke
Sun, 20 Dec 2026 · 20:00
Jazz Station, Brussels
€25
For his new project, the Austrian guitarist Wolfgang Muthspiel surrounds himself with two exceptional musical personalities: the Australian double bassist Linda May Han Oh and the Beninese guitarist Lionel Loueke.
Three musical universes, three continents, three artists who have deeply marked their respective instruments meet in a program where virtuosity and rhythmic power combine with vast space left for improvisation. Over the course of a true musical "trialogue," the three musicians dialogue with remarkable freedom and complicity.
All three are key figures in contemporary jazz. Linda May Han Oh has been the double bassist for the Pat Metheny quartet for many years, while leading a brilliant career at the head of her own projects. Lionel Loueke is an essential member of the Herbie Hancock group and develops, both solo and with his trio, a deeply original approach to the guitar. Wolfgang Muthspiel, whose last four albums were released by ECM, explores another facet of his musical universe with this new formation.
Despite their different backgrounds, these three artists share an essential quality: an immediately recognizable sound identity. Because when a musician is identifiable from the first note, solely by their timbre, it is because they have truly found their own voice.
