Roby Lakatos & son ensemble

Roby Lakatos is an exceptional Hungarian violinist, renowned for his virtuosity and musical eclecticism, brilliantly blending classical music, jazz, and Gypsy traditions. As a direct descendant of János Bihari, the “king of Gypsy violinists,” he carries on a family musical legacy dating back seven generations. Trained both within his family and at the Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest, he made a name for himself in Belgium, notably through performances with his ensemble at the Brussels club Les Ateliers de la Grande Ile. Since then, the Roby Lakatos Ensemble has performed on the world’s greatest stages and at major festivals, collaborating with prestigious orchestras and artists such as Herbie Hancock, Joshua Bell, and Stéphane Grappelli. Their unique style blends jazz improvisation, innovative techniques such as left-hand pizzicato, and a repertoire ranging from Brahms to John Williams. The group is composed of young virtuoso musicians, rooted in both the Hungarian folk tradition and classical training.
