On Friday, December 11, we will once again host Guido Vervoort. As a premiere, he brings us his brand-new report on his recent trip to South Africa.
South Africa is a country of unprecedented diversity, where every kilometer tells a new story. From the rugged coastlines of the Cape to the vast savannas of the Kruger National Park, from bustling cities to quiet mountain villages — the country offers a kaleidoscope of impressions that deeply touch travelers. Soon we will welcome a documentary filmmaker who will present a documentary about an extensive journey through this fascinating country, focusing on the beauty, complexity, and culture of South Africa.
South Africa, located at the southernmost tip of the African continent, is a country with eleven official languages, a rich history, and impressive natural wealth. It is known as the "Rainbow Nation," a term referring to cultural diversity and the pursuit of unity after apartheid. Traveling through South Africa means getting acquainted with a country that lives between tradition and modernity, between natural splendor and urban dynamics.
The documentary will highlight world-famous sights, among other things. Think of Cape Town, with the iconic Table Mountain and the historic Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for years. De Tuinroute winds along the south coast and offers a picturesque mix of forests, beaches, and charming towns. In the northeast lies the Kruger National Park, one of the largest wildlife parks in Africa, where the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and buffalo — can be admired in their natural habitat. Ook de Drakensbergen, with their dramatic peaks and ancient rock paintings, are a highlight for nature lovers.
