Sitting is a performance in which theater maker Peter De Graef dares to reach for his most beloved language: that of silence and turning inward.
In the performance Sitting, Peter De Graef takes his audience into a special experiment where language and silence merge. Peter knows better than anyone that "sitting" or "meditating" is the most adventurous journey you can undertake. With great involvement, he delivers a passionate plea for the importance of "Sitting" during the performance: "The interior is a rebellious vessel full of surprises. The interior also demands care: Whoever takes the time to sit every day maintains their interior. It is as ordinary and necessary as brushing our teeth. If we do not do it, our interior becomes dirty, we feel confused, and our world becomes murky. But just like brushing teeth, the daily habit is important. That succeeds with trial and error, with patience and kindness."
After clear words of encouragement, Peter ventures into the silence together with his audience. For twenty minutes. Alone and yet together.
Afterwards, a fascinating interaction arises between Peter and his silence companions in which reflections can be shared and Peter answers questions.
SITTING is about meditating in the most austere, egoless form.
Simply sitting, with nothing on your hands. A constant travel companion is theater maker and "sitter" Peter De Graef. He encourages by entering into silence himself and sharing associative thoughts.
