Ma'Bluescafé with Old Skool Band

Ma'Bluescafé with OLD SKOOL BAND on 8/11/2026 At our monthly Ma'Blues sessions in Kortrijk, it is always about starting the week with a good feeling. The warm tunes of soul and blues music lend themselves extremely well to that, if desired in combination with some good food — and that remains the format that we have maintained on a Sunday evening for more than 5 years now. On November 8th, we bring you old-school, classic, and wonderfully raw blues songs the way they were meant to be: pure, soulful, and straight from the heart. No frills, just grating guitars and a rhythm that cuts through your bones. Armed with a deep-rooted voice, singer and frontman Johan Mares hacks his way through the jungle from the Mississippi banks to the crossroads with his imaginary machete. Side by side, harmonica and psychedelic guitars support the wild lyrics, driven by the exhilarating rhythms of bassist and drums. The repertoire ranges from very old blues standards to danceable swing stuff, and just when you thought you had heard it all, a smash hit sing-along suddenly resounds out of nowhere. Chairs and tables pushed aside, atmosphere guaranteed! OLD SKOOL BLUESBAND is a 100% pure live band that finds its energy in the interaction between them and their audience. Keep an eye on our DJ Ma'Blues Facebook page, because soon we will reveal which bluesmen and blueswomen will take the stage in the '26-'27 season.
