Big Creek Slim has grown into a European blues sensation in recent years. By playing at blues festivals and in clubs in Northern Europe and Scandinavia, more and more people became enchanted by his unique and powerful blues voice. In his voice, you can hear echoes of the greatest bluesmen of all time, such as Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, and John Lee Hooker. His guitar playing fits his voice perfectly – just like his mentors decades ago, he electrifies raw and hypnotic country blues rhythms and brings them to the juke joints of big cities. Big Creek Slim, alias Marc Rune, was born and raised in Ikast, a small town in Central Denmark. Around 2008, he traveled through the Verenigde Staten for a while, where he played music and wrote songs. The following year, he also began his recording career. Since 2015, he has been recording albums for the Danish label ‘Straight Shooter’, and so far all of his albums have won the Danish Blues Award for ‘Beste Bluesalbum’. Moreover, they have received a lot of attention and airplay in various parts of the blues world. His international tour band consists of the British harmonica player Roger Wade, who has lived in Germany for 30 years and is active in the German blues scene. The rhythm section consists of Jaska Prepula (electric and double bass) and Micha Maass (drums), both of whom have specialized in traditional blues for decades and have toured with American blues artists such as RJ Mischo, Mark Hummel, James Harman, Barrelhouse Chuck, Mitch Kashmar, and many others. Big Creek Slim Band released their latest LP ‘Real to Reel’ in February 2026. This fully analog recording, without digital editing, in a small juke joint in Nuremberg, Germany, is only available on vinyl.
