Christmas concert 'Gloria in Excelsis'

On Saturday evening, December 19, 2026, Muzikaal Ensemble Alegría will present a grand Christmas concert in the atmospheric Pius X Church in Wilrijk, entirely dedicated to masterpieces by Johann Sebastian Bach. On the program are the monumental Magnificat (BWV 243) including Christmas additions, and the festive Christmas cantatas BWV 191 (Gloria in excelsis Deo) and BWV 133 (Ich freue mich in dir). "Rejoicing voices, radiant sounds, timpani and trumpets, the warmth of Christmas captured in the most beautiful baroque music." Four top Flemish soloists are collaborating on this concert: soprano Jana Pieters, countertenor Rob Cuppens, tenor Michiel Haspeslagh and bass Thomas Vandenabeele. Choir and soloists are accompanied by a large baroque orchestra, playing on period instruments. The whole is under the trusted artistic direction of Mannu Wuyts. Ordering info for tickets can be found further down in this announcement and on our poster. Alegría gives you that warm Christmas feeling. You are welcome!
