The wonderful story of the chapels of the Saint-Quintinus Cathedral

Sun, 13 Dec 2026 · 14:00
Kathedraal Sint-Quintinus, Hasselt
€8
A walk along the 9 chapels is a way to get to know the fascinating history of the city of Hasselt in a different way. The guide likes to tell about the meaning and the power that these chapels have had through the centuries. The visit lasts 2 hours and starts at 2:00 PM at the church portal of the Vismarkt. A simple chapel on the trade route from the Rhine to the sea grew into a small church with four altars. With the renovations by the abbesses of Herkenrode, the parish church could soon boast 7 chapels that grew into as many as 20 chapels from the 16th century onwards. In our cathedral, we find, among other things, work by the master of the Pipe Folds and the master of Steffensweert.
