Shearwater originated from members of Okkervil River and Kingfisher. The group from Austin has been making compelling music for well over a quarter of a century in the spirit of Nick Drake and Leonard Cohen. Since the switch to Sub Pop, Shearwater sounds fuller and more daring. Albums like 'Rook' and 'Jet Plane and Oxbow' capture both the light and the dark of our times. Frontman Jonathan Meiburg couples ecological stories with layered art rock. Live, his cinematic and emotional music comes completely to life. Loma saw the light when Meiburg met Emily Cross and Dan Duszynski during a tour. In the Texan countryside, the trio refined a hypnotic, intimate sound featuring field recordings and subtle electronics. Thus, Loma forms an intriguing addition to Meiburg's work with Shearwater.
