The beaver is fully back in Flanders after an absence of more than a century. The beaver has also established itself in the Rosdambeek valley for several years. But what about the otter? This species is also making a cautious and slow return in Flanders. Could the otter also establish itself in the Rosdambeek valley? And what is actually the difference between a beaver and an otter? Although both animals are strongly connected to water and are sometimes associated with each other, they clearly differ from each other in appearance, way of life and their role within the ecosystem. During this walk we go in search of tracks, stories and facts of both species. We discover what opportunities the Rosdambeek valley offers for these two special mammals.
10.00 to 12.00 hours. Kerk Afsnee, Afsneedorp 18, 9051 Ghent. Boots are recommended, as we trek through a wetland area that can be quite wet. For practical reasons, dogs are not allowed.
