Topacteur Stefaan Degand (known from: Maestro Degand, De slimste mens ter wereld, De ronde,…) gives his own voice to a man who wants to go in search of his daughter, whom he has not seen since she was seven, and with powerless power tries to love his wife. He seems to want to convince himself that he has reason to be angry and jealous, and that while he regularly confides in her how much he loves her. And they can still laugh together, right? Then everything is fine, right?
As beautiful as love began, the threat and oppression seep more and more through in this jewel of a story, which speeds towards an inevitable but unexpected end.
A burning current piece that exposes the subtle mechanisms of gaslighting and partner violence by looking inside the manipulator's head.
