Diyar Diyar, which literally means 'from one shore to the other', takes you on a musical journey along the coasts of the Egeïsche Zee and the Zee van Marmara. Like a braided thread, the ensemble connects different cultures, languages, and traditions that lived side by side for centuries within the Ottomaanse Rijk.
The repertoire brings the warm atmosphere of the Meyhane and Café Aman to life: places where music, encounters, and stories were central. Expect a rich mix of folk songs from Smyrna (Izmir) and Istanbul, refined Ottoman classical music, and moving Sephardic-Jewish songs.
