Toen Patrick Riguelle and Jan Hautekiet started playing as a duo in 1997, God’s Song was one of the first songs on their playlist. More than 20 years later, Randy Newman is still more than a companion on the road. Randall Stewart Newman comes from an incredibly musical family and followed in the footsteps of several uncles connected to Hollywood by letting his own pop music bathe in a distinctly cinematic atmosphere. Moreover, his songs can easily withstand comparison with short films, which sometimes yields dirty, sarcastic and eternally current portraits of small and large America, but also heartbreaking ballads overflowing with guilt and penance about lost and expired loves.
