Five generations of female players dive into The Merry Wives of Windsor and thereby collide head-on with Falstaff, the larger-than-life character that they try to tame, to play, and to fathom. While his grotesque seduction plans take shape on stage, reality seeps in ever more emphatically. In the wings, tensions fester and roles shift. Even the direction becomes part of the game.
