The Years

In the book De Jaren (2008) by Nobelprijswinnares Annie Ernaux, which is buried under superlatives, the writer surveys her life between 1941 and 2006. Sketched against the canvas of a changing zeitgeist, that yields not only an impressive portrait of a woman, but also an extremely relatable picture of post-war Western history. De Jaren also becomes a feast of recognition in theater. An impressive, intergenerational cast will give shape to the female main character: Viviane De Muynck, Els Dottermans, Carine van Bruggen, and Kiana Porte. For the music, up-and-coming talent Hendrik Lasure signs, who switches fluently between modern jazz and alternative pop music.
