Beethoven Piano Sonatas

Featuring three iconic piano sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven, this recital takes you on an intense musical journey through his life and imagination. The selected works – the famous Moonlight Sonata, the tempestuous Appassionata and the visionary late Sonata, Op. 109 – represent not only three masterpieces, but also three fundamental stages in Beethoven’s artistic development. The famous Moonlight Sonata opens the recital in an atmosphere of introspection and tranquillity. In this piece, Beethoven already breaks away from the classical sonata form and creates an almost dreamlike, improvisational world. With the Appassionata, we find ourselves in a completely different world: dramatic, turbulent and steeped in existential tension. This sonata is regarded as one of the most explosive of his middle period, when Beethoven explored his limits both as a composer and as a human being. The storm is followed by a moment of transcendence in Piano Sonata No. 30, a work from his late period. Here we hear a composer who turns away from external strife and focuses on inner depth, spirituality and renewal. As a prelude to the Beethoven Year 2027, this recital offers a unique insight into the evolution of a composer who pushed the boundaries of music forever. Since then, he has built a successful career as a Steinway Artist, performing in Europe, Israel, China, South Africa, Canada and the United States.
