Exclusively for his adopted city of Leuven, songwriter Jonas Winterland – after five years of silence due to hearing problems – presents his comeback album Nieuwe planeten om thuis te komen. A unique premiere in which, among others, Jente Pironet (Portland) and – we'll keep her name a secret for a little longer – the best voice in Belpop history will come to celebrate. With four albums, one and a half million streams, a MIA nomination and fans like Raymond Van het Groenewoud and Tom Barman, Jonas Winterland has built a loyal audience since 2013 with his poetic lyrics and classics like 'Mensen zijn gemaakt van dun papier'. His plan was clear: to diligently continue writing his musical oeuvre. Until fate struck in 2020: due to unexpected hearing loss, Winterland was unable to listen to music for almost a year, let alone write it. After a long, gradual recovery process, he finally left those hearing problems behind him and could finally focus on a new record. With producer Nicolas Rombouts and a team of top musicians, he took the time to find the authentic sound he has been chasing since his debut. 'Nieuwe planeten' has become a timeless songwriter record, in which all of Jonas' influences – EELS, Bonnie Prince Billy, Spinvis, Wilco – shine through richly. Sometimes he sounds completely stripped down, then pleasantly rocking again. Nowhere does the production get in the way of the razor-sharp lyrics. 'Nieuwe planeten' feels like a second debut from a seasoned songwriter. And also a statement: this is what Jonas Winterland stands for. Aure De Franse singer-songwriter Aure makes music that unfolds between light and shadow: intimate, minimalist, and deeply poetic. Her voice and guitar playing echo the stripped-down power we know from artists like Atahualpa Yupanqui, Facundo Cabral, and Leonard Cohen, mixed with the mysterious chiaroscuro of Lhasa, Jessica Pratt, and Nico. She weaves languages and traditions into a universe that feels both fragile and precise. That world takes on a new form in 'printemps', her upcoming debut album on Mayway Records. For this record, she created her own visual world, inspired by the photography of Graciela Iturbide, the Wings of Desire van Wim Wenders, and the collages of Katrien De Blauwer. Live, Aure brings that atmospheric simplicity to life in a concert that feels more like a quiet encounter than a performance: subdued, honest, and resonant long after the last note.
