Encuentros Musicales, AMWD concert

Pianist Misael Mejia Rondo invites Mauricio Arancibia, multi-instrumentalist, conductor, and founder of the ensemble L’Orchestretto, for a concert dedicated to South American music. Beide Boliviaanse musicians followed a classical training at conservatories in Europe, but never forgot their roots. They search for musical “encounters” - Encuentros - between the classical tradition and the rich folk music of their continent. Their passion for this musical dialogue also inspired them to organize a festival in Bolivia, where teachers from different parts of the world come together to share their knowledge with local students and teachers, and at the same time get inspired by the country and its rich musical traditions. During this concert, they bring music from Bolivia, Argentina, Venezuela, Brazil, and other countries in the region. The audience can expect a varied program with four-handed piano pieces and special combinations of piano with traditional folk instruments. De Academie for Music, Word, and Dance organizes together with Leisure Mortsel performances to give the talents of its teachers a well-deserved stage. Misael Mejia Rondo is a piano teacher.
