Within the Bounds of the Impossibility – Tiago Rodrigues

How far can we go to help others? How to continue acting when we know we will not be able to save everyone? They left to help, treat, protect. They discovered war, exile, humanitarian catastrophes, but also their own limits, doubts, and contradictions. And yet, they continued. Based on real testimonies of humanitarian workers collected across the world, Tiago Rodrigues, one of the major figures of contemporary European theater, plunges us into the universe of those who dedicate their lives to helping others. But how to tell the unspeakable? How to bear witness to suffering without betraying it? How to preserve one's humanity in the face of situations that seem beyond comprehension? IN THE MEASURE OF THE IMPOSSIBLE does not seek to glorify humanitarian engagement. It explores its paradoxes, fragilities, moments of doubt, and bursts of hope. Between theater, movement, music, and emotions, four performers draw us into a singular stage experience. The show opens with moments of lightness and humor before gradually leading us toward more intimate and moving stories, where words, bodies, light, and silences take their full place. Carried by Noah Helman, Nikita Adamski, Julien Buha Collette, and Anne-Catherine Grave, in a staging by Joffrey Roggeman, this show confronts us with an essential question: What can we still do when everything seems impossible? A profoundly human show, which reminds us that, even when we cannot change the world, we can still choose not to look away.
