“Yaaba” means “grandmother” in the language of the Mossi in Burkina Faso. On stage, two grandmothers: Halimata, Burkinabe, and Marie-Odile, Belgian. They reel off memories through short stories, they joke, revisit family legends and perform original tales. They speak, sing, play and manipulate the elements of scenography like a large game of interlocking objects.
Imperceptibly, their roots appear, connect them, differentiate them.
Between the origin of life, the earth, aging bodies, the bonds between the living and the dead, the love of grandchildren, there is so much to say and laugh about.
