K2-18b

Fri, 8 Jan 2027 · 20:30
Théâtre Les Tanneurs, Brussels
How to continue to create while humanity seems to be running to its doom? What can art do in the face of the horror of wars and the rise of fascism? 124 light-years from Earth orbits K2-18b, an exoplanet where scientists glimpse conditions favorable to life. In the hollow of this dreamed elsewhere, a projection surface for artists and poets, arises the courage to go towards the future. Looking for Antigone, the latest show by Wooshing Machine, co-created with the Mutants company, was a rewriting of the Sophocles myth, carried by a group of professional actors and citizens. With K2-18b, dancers and choreographers Mauro Paccagnella and Alessandro Bernardeschi summon again a group of performers of different ages and backgrounds, with magnetic presences. Mixing dance, theater, video, and music, this new creation is an invitation to detach oneself from the bitterness of reality to resist with the most beautiful weapon there is: our capacity to build community. In the creations of Wooshing Machine, meaning is born from the juxtaposition of images, materials, bodies that tell stories, and ritornellos that never leave us. Between gravity and humor, political reflection and poetry, K2-18b is above all a space of freedom to reassemble, gently, the fragments of our human dignity. In co-presentation with the Théâtre Les Tanneurs.
