‘A kind of staying’ A musical-literary performance by De Nutsvoorzieningen.
The project 'A sort of staying' is the joint search of poetry and music for a balance between loss and standing upright again. Music and word support each other in this or precisely give each other the space they need.
The performance is built around the recent collection of the same name 'A sort of staying', an artistic box of loose-leaf poems by Pol Bracke and photographs by Marc De Troyer that enter into a dialogue with each other around the theme of farewell, in all its forms and aspects. For the music, De Nutsvoorzieningen drew inspiration from forgotten or unjustly lesser-known gems that fit the theme, alongside several original compositions. The whole breathes an intimistic atmosphere, without becoming too gloomy.
About the poems in 'A sort of staying', reviewer Ali Şerik writes the following in the Dutch online literary publication Meander Magazine: “These are poems that give loss a place and show how you live on with it. There is also hope hidden in it, the will to go on, like a tree that has survived a fire and sprouts again in the spring.” (You can read the full review in Meander Magazine via this link: https://meandermagazine.nl/2026/05/pol-bracke-marc-de-troyer-een-soort-van-blijven/)
De Nutsvoorzieningen are: Brecht Ranschaert (guitar), Steven Brandt (double bass) and Pol Bracke (sax), reinforced for this production with Veerle De Gussem (word) and David Bauwens (vocals).
