On Tuesday evening 1 December 2026, Stadsschouwburg van Mechelen transforms into the backdrop for a unique evening full of acrobatics, humor and social impact. Gen C, the young and energetic makers collective of Circolito, brings its brand-new production Kweshuwa to the theater — a benefit performance of which the proceeds go entirely to local nature restoration. About the performance: Kweshuwa
Wat begins as a cozy outing, quickly transforms into a cheerful and absurd storm of movement. Eight young top artists take you on a recognizable, but completely derailed camping trip. The main role? That is reserved for the icon of camping chaos: the well-known '5-second pop-up tent' that no one ever manages to fold up correctly again.
Kweshuwa is a visual, non-verbal and universally accessible circus performance packed with humor, high-level acrobatics, juggling and poetic moments of rest. A unique cross-over of circus and theater that touches young and old! Laughing for nature: Project Herstel Springbos
In of a regular series of performances, Gen C consciously chooses to dedicate this evening entirely to our own region and the climate. The proceeds of the ticket sales go directly to Nature Based vzw and Natuurpunt Oude Spoorweg for Project Herstel Springbos — a crucial climate buffer of 3.5 hectares in the overarching Natuurpark Rivierenland (on the border between Duffel and Sint-Katelijne-Waver).
With your ticket you help transform a former non-conforming fishpond into a valuable nature reserve.
The impact at a glance:
Thorough cleanup: Over 3,500 tons of stone rubble, 135 tons of asbestos and 180 m³ of waste have already been safely removed.
Climate buffer: Good for a CO₂ absorption of more than 50 tons per year and a water retention of up to 12,000 m³.
Experience for the region: Thanks to the realization of a boardwalk with a bird-watching wall, everyone will soon be able to enjoy this new nature.
Practical information
Come and enjoy Mechelen circus talent and build a greener region together with us!
Lukas D’Haese (Gen C) “We are very happy that with Gen C we can not only let people enjoy circus, but also use our passion for something we ourselves attach importance to. We grew up together as eight friends in the circus and have therefore experienced how much power there is in coming together, playing and creating something together. That is also what we want to do with this benefit: bring people together for a nice evening, but at the same time contribute to the protection of our nature. As a young company it means a lot to us that we can use our energy and what we ourselves love doing for an organization that is committed to that daily. It feels wonderful to give something back in that way.”
