Hamnet - Chloé Zhao

In 16th-century England, the plague is spreading. Will and his wife Agnes live a wonderful existence with their three children. Until the plague strikes and their son Hamnet dies. Their all-encompassing grief finds a way into art. Wanneer Will leaves to work in the London theater world, and one of his greatest works is born: Hamlet. The film was based on the book of the same name, which is at least as popular, by the North Ierse Maggie O'Farrell. Direction is in the hands of Gouden Leeuw and Oscar winner Chloé Zhao (Nomadland). And instead of a classic Shakespeare biopic, Zhao shifts the focus from Shakespeare to the people around him: Agnes and their son Hamnet. 'Hamnet' won the audience award at the Toronto festival and won 2 Golden Globes. Tijdens de Oscars was able to take home Jessie Buckley the statuette for best actress.
