Based on Fiodor Dostoïevski / Cie Karyatides Théâtre of objects as a family | Accueil Les virtuosos of object theater deliver a breathless adaptation of Dostoevsky's masterpiece that reveals the anatomy of a crime, from its fantasy to its confession. It's the story of Raskolnikov, a young man in revolt, crushed by misery. He is in a struggle against injustice, poverty, and the few perspectives that the world offers him. So, to conquer his freedom beyond morality and in defiance of the law, he steals and murders an old usurer. After all, the world will be better without her, and the loot can be redistributed… Figurines in wood, plaster, or resin and fabric dolls represent the main characters. Sculpted bottle caps evoke a bar and students sitting at tables; a bare light bulb alone summons the hero's room. The Karyatides company is used to taking hold of the classical repertoire to transform it into object theater whose poetry, refinement, and simplicity render wonderfully the spirit of the work and the universe of their author. In 2022 and 2024, Le Vilar had already hosted two of their latest shows with international success: Frankenstein and Les Misérables, the latter counting more than 650 performances!
