Maja Zade Théâtre tragicomedy | Accueil Une contemporary rewriting, between power games and family secrets. In a lively and acidic style, the German author Maja Zade, playwright and author at the Schaubühne in Berlin, inscribes Sophocles' ancient myth in our century and connects it to our current concerns, such as sexism and ecology. The Theban kings and queens of the original tragedy thus give way to wealthy industrialists. Christina manages a family business of chemical products intended for agriculture. While she enjoys a few days of vacation in Greece with her lover, the worries keep piling up. Between professional and personal crises, shocking family secrets surface. For her second creation, director Héloïse Ravet appropriates this universal plot, updated thanks to the central place attributed to the figure of Jocasta, whose voice is finally restored, in the guise of Christina. At the center of a scenography that evokes both the theater of trestles and bullfighting arenas, four excellent actors and actresses deploy an extremely physical and varied register.
