Wars are raging and forests are burning, whoever flees has nowhere to go. Glaciers are melting and the soup is full of plastic. Savages and smooth-talkers rule, the truth wanders through a hall of mirrors. High time to intervene! Nele and Hendrik refuse to sit back and do nothing. But what can they do? Everything is so complicated, every issue has many sides, and where was that truth again? A professor and a musician step onto the world's stage, which is far too big. They try to understand what is going on and how they can make a difference. They protest and they parody, they sing and they talk nonsense, they are mild and indignant, despondent and combative, convinced and full of doubt, depressed and explosive. They look ahead and dive into the past. In the chaos they seek clarity and nuance. Jan van Houwelingen - Opblijven Jan van Houwelingen (finalist of Pucks Talent Cabaret 2022, finalist of Utrechts Kleinkunstfestival 2026, and winner of Albert Heijn coloring contest 2003) has been taking the stage for a number of years now with sharp anecdotes, ironic wordplay, and nearsighted observations, though for the latter he has glasses. In “Opblijven” Jan looks under your beds to check them for monsters. He stays awake a little longer so that you can all sleep safely. Jan performs in Belgium and the Netherlands, as long as the trains are running. Jan van Houwelingen has been touring the small halls of the Netherlands and Belgium for a number of years now. He was a member of cabaret company "de Cabaretpoel" for 3 years and received an average audience rating of 7.5 there. He is currently a permanent comedian and cabaret programmer of Amai Comedy Club in Ghent. "Opblijven" is his second full-length show.
