Sunday Recital: Stan Geudens & Layal Ramadan - De Grote Post
But above all: acoustic, solely amplified by the beautiful architecture of the Capuchin Church. Soloists perform their self-chosen recital in an intimate setting.
This edition features lutenist Stan Geudens and viola da gamba player Layal Ramadan. During this concert, they bring together music from different style periods: from, among others, the lyrical elegance of Marin Marais, to the quieting musical impressions of Frederico Mompou and a new creation written for the duo.
What binds this music together, despite originating from radically different musical backgrounds, is a common quest for stillness. The diverging musical languages of the various composers spanning the past three hundred years form an invitation to enter the domain of silence and introspection. Their interplay is not rooted in the display of virtuosity, but in a subtle dialogue, in which both performers continually invite each other to create a unique sound world.
Kurt Van Eeghem provides an introduction to this recital.
