Belgian Music Days, that means a lot of homegrown music, with a special focus on work by living composers. Het Brusselse Ensemble Fractales changes its appearance four times thanks to pieces by Daan Janssens, Eliott Delafosse, Stefan Prins, and Pierre Slinckx. Manuel Hermia (saxophone/composition) worked for a long time on his Rajazz theory (a combination of Indian ragas with jazz) and passionately explains that theory. With his Rajazzic tribe, he puts it into practice just as passionately. Pianist Brecht Valckenaers, on the other hand, focuses entirely on contemporary piano music of Belgian make, including a creation by Pieter Schuermans and his own work. Students of the Koninklijke Conservatoria van Gent, Antwerp, and Brussels dove into the archives and fished out a few heritage gems from among the 2 million scores.
