You are a poem

In Je bent een gedicht, Mokhallad Rasem, together with the Tartaren, goes in search of poetry in a world that is wavering. Because people are wandering. Not because they are lost themselves, but because the world has let them go. The performance focuses on those who lose their direction due to circumstances and go in search of a poetic space in a harsh reality. Thus, a dialogue arises: an encounter where lost people dream of a poetic world — or where a lost world longs for the poetic human. In Je bent een gedicht, the theater space and the physical environment transcend the term ‘decor’, and become breathing partners. They determine how people touch each other and what can arise. Objects are given meaning; spaces and relationships are explored: abandoned rooms, left-behind objects, forgotten loves. ‘Abandoned’ runs like a red thread through the performance. Not as an end point, but as an opportunity to breathe new life into what has come to a standstill. Like an instrument that starts to breathe again and lets a new world arise.
