At the end of the 19th century, Englishmen traveled through Europe to buy up medieval stained glass windows for their own churches. Baron Bethune ensured that stained glass art revived in Flanders. His students opened workshops and produced high-quality neo-Gothic stained glass windows. A modern interpretation was provided, among others, by Limburger Roger Daniëls, founder of the Academy for Beeldende Kunst in Genk. He collaborated with Amand van Rompaey and Paule Nolens. Among his graduates are numerous well-known artists. We will visit both neo-Gothic and modern stained glass windows in churches and civic buildings.
