He applies non-traditional techniques and original tunings to bring a combination of blues, jazz, classical, Eastern, and African elements. The result is music that breathes freedom and openness. Stubbornly, he repeats passages until the tension can no longer be held, his lyrical melodies become inevitable, and the rawness of the sound is central. ‘Wild Around’ (December 2024, Challenge Records) is his fourth solo album. He continues in it on the sound and the themes of ‘Primitiv’ (2022). Tassin lets himself be inspired by the wild around the human, but also by the wild in the human: the inner and outer storms, the suffering that many people struggle with. Opposite that, music, tradition, and a connection with nature offer a safe haven. ‘Wild Around’ is an ode to life in tumultuous times. Layered, impressive, and fascinating.
