Le Moyen Western Age is often reduced to a few culinary clichés, between famine and excess. We will propose, on the contrary, to explore a society profoundly structured by food. Through the table of knights, monks, and peasants, it highlights the rules, prohibitions, rhythms, and hierarchies that organize medieval dietary practices. Religious fasts, lean days, aristocratic banquets, and peasant cuisine draw a world where eating is at once a matter of necessity, faith, and social order. Because in the Middle Ages, food is a language that states everyone's place in society.
This story will be told to you by food historian Pierre Leclercq and the historical meal will be prepared by chef Alex Van Kalck.
