Chris Joris knows like no other how to gather musicians around him who provide musical magic and chemistry. For the final concert of 2027, he surrounds himself with Firas Al Alwani, Bram Weijters and Christophe Devisscher. This encounter results in a mix of refined compositions and captivating improvisations, underpinned by years of experience, craftsmanship and a sense of adventure. It promises to be an evening full of passion, humor, emotion and tenderness.
Klarinetspeler Firas Al Alwani received his first lessons at a young age in his native country Syria. He continued his studies at the music academy of Lokeren, where he spent a large part of his youth. Subsequently, he went to the conservatory, where he studied with Walter Boeykens and Kurt Van Herck. Al Alwani has a classical background, but is just as at home in the jazz world.
Pianist Bram Weijters has already been on the stage of the Lokerse Jazzklub several times — last year still with The Hamster Axis. For years he combined his passion for jazz with his role as a keyboard player with Raymond van het Groenewoud.
Bassist Christophe Devisscher earned his spurs in jazz with, among others, Carlo Nardozza. His previous passage in Lokeren dates back to the time when the club was still located in Gasstraat; then he performed alongside Pascal Schumacher and Chris Joris.
Percussionist and drummer Chris Joris brought this wonderful line-up together for the first time during the Predikheerlijke Zomer in Mechelen. Joris has an extensive track record and is active in various projects. In Lokeren he was already on stage with his Chris Joris Experience (featuring, among others, Frank Vaganée), during the tour for his 65th birthday and alongside Anne Wolf and Paul Van Gysegem. He also brought the American saxophonist Eric Person to the club twice.
