In A Round is a special trio with singer Sarah Klenes, saxophonist Sylvain Debaisieux and pianist Bram De Looze. They were supposed to perform at the Lokerse Jazzklub in March, but due to the singer's illness, the concert inevitably turned into a fascinating duo of piano and saxophone that kept the audience on the edge of their seats. They are coming back, and this time Sarah Klenes will be there.
In A Round draws its inspiration from jazz, French poetry, the chanson and improvised music. With a special sensitivity to sound and space, Sarah Klenes utilizes all registers and timbres of her voice. She merges them with the saxophone of Sylvain Debaisieux, as partners in a continuous search for the right timbre. Bram De Looze adds his own harmonic magic to this. Thus In A Round takes you on an enchanting, poetic and kaleidoscopic musical experience. Like free birds they weave a web under an open sky, somewhere between abyss and light.
Singer and word artist Sarah Klenes started her artistic career as a dancer. Later she discovered jazz and fell for the freedom this music offers. She is open to multidisciplinary collaborations and has worked with Michel Massot and Lennart Heyndels among others.
Tenorsaxofonist Sylvain Debaisieux built a strong reputation in a short time. You might know him from the Pentadox Trio, Stéphane Galand & The Rhythm Hunters or his own Macondo Trio. Long ago he already stood on the stage of the Lokerse Jazzklub with Eve Beuvens's Heptatomic.
Pianist Bram De Looze forms the third pillar of the trio. Together with Joey Baron and Robin Verheyen he is part of MixMonk. Met Verheyen he played two years ago in the band of Devin Gray a dazzling concert at the Lokerse Jazzklub, giving our upright piano an almost supersonic upgrade.
