Yes Pavlov, the musical brainchild of saxophonist Ruben Verbruggen, meets trumpeter Dave Douglas (known for his work with, among others, John Zorn, Horace Silver, Bill Frisell and Tom Waits). The result is a captivating collaboration between an adventurous Belgian jazz formation and an absolute grandmaster of the international jazz scene, straight from New York.
During a residency in Antwerp, they join forces for new and original work. Afterwards, they will tour various venues in Flanders and Brussels with that material. This promises jazz and improvisation on the cutting edge.
Yes Pavlov is a quartet with a distinct and unpolished sound. Their music combines jazz with groove, Indian melodies and intense mutual interaction. In February 2025, they released their debut album Agra on ZenneZ Records. The band members — Ruben Verbruggen (Bulliphant, Punk Kong), Ben Van Bortel (Stochelo Rosenberg), Jasper De Roeck (Serendip Quartet, Muze Jazz Orchestra) and Simon Van Brandt (Unfinished Business) — are based in Antwerp and are familiar faces on the Belgian and international jazz circuit. Together, they represent a dynamic interplay with a deep and unique character.
This concert offers a rare opportunity to experience a contemporary jazz icon up close in an intimate club setting.
