“The last concert I saw by Macondo Trio radiated a lot of joy, and for me had the perfect balance between catchy compositions and an adventurous performance.” - Programmator Adia
De music by Macondo Trio feels like a warm conversation among good friends. Drummer Angelo Moustapha and saxophonist Sylvain Debaisieux found each other between Belgium and Benin, where they discovered a shared language full of African rhythms and melodies from their childhood. Together with bassist Federico Stocchi, they form a tight, organic trio. On their JazzLab tour - naturally also stopping in Nova Express - an 'old' acquaintance joins in at the piano: Wajdi Riahi. A true comet within Belgian jazz who made a great impression alongside, among others, Stéphane Galland (The Rhythm Hunters) and equally a special reunion for our club, because Wajdi opened Nova Express two years ago in a memorable way. Met Tunesische roots and his poetic playing add a narrative, Mediterranean glow to the Macondo Trio.
In the context of a JazzLab tour.
