Laura Cortese’s Acoustic Evenings brings together top artists from the English-language folk traditions of Europe and North America. In a few days, they create a unique concert program in which they reinterpret each other’s repertoire, weave harmonies, and let musical connection arise. For this edition, Laura forms a dream team with Eliza Carthy, Jake Blount, and Sarah Kate Morgan. Four musicians from diverse traditions – from British folk to Appalachian old-time and African-American roots music – who challenge and strengthen each other musically. Because the concert takes place on St. Patrick’s Day, folk songs with Irish roots will also be heard, making the historical connections between both sides of the Atlantische Oceaan audible. Acoustic Evenings stands for meeting, cross-pollination, and wonder – an intimate and discoverable evening in which tradition and innovation find each other.
