The Theft

In the night of April 10 to 11, 1934, one of the greatest art thefts in our history happens. Two panels of the Lam Gods are stolen from the Saint Bavo Cathedral in Ghent. It is the beginning of a mystery surrounding the hiding place of the work and the role of the Wetterse Arsène Goedertier – and a perfect scenario for a film. After an extensive investigation and twelve years of script work, writer and director Raf De Graeve brings this riddle to life in his feature film debut. He does this together with students and teachers of the Wetterse Kunstacademie, local talent and professional actors. The result is a detective thriller in which history, tension and local pride come together on the silver screen. Make it a cozy afternoon and sit down after the film for a delicious waffle or pancake with coffee or tea. Would you rather just have the film? That is of course also possible.
