After thirty years, brothers Franz and Horst see each other again in the residential care center where Horst – against his will – resides. Horst suffers from dementia, while Franz needs money and hopes for his inheritance. Ook Andrea, Horst’s childhood sweetheart, tries to repair what was lost. The love triangle opens old wounds, puts built-up tensions on edge, and reveals that the rivalry between the brothers is deeper than thought.
Met Zondag de Negenste makes Kat Steppe her feature film debut. In this poignant drama, fiction and documentary flow seamlessly into each other. Residents of an Antwerp residential care center played together with actors for the camera, giving the film a moving authenticity.
