On January 29, 2024, the Palestijnse Rode Halve Maan in Gaza receives an emergency call. In a car, in the middle of the fire of the Israeli army, six-year-old Hind Rajab is trapped. She is the only one who can keep in touch with the aid workers. While paramedics and volunteers set up a rescue operation, they encounter military restrictions and bureaucracy. Hind remains anxious and alone on the line, while every minute counts. Regisseur Kaouther Ben Hania reconstructs these fatal moments with real phone calls and staged scenes, based on eyewitness accounts. The film exposes the pressure and responsibility of humanitarian work and confronts us with a system in which time determines lives. The power of the film lies in the silence, the waiting and the listening to the voice of a child calling for help. At the world premiere in Venice, the film received a standing ovation of more than 23 minutes, the longest ever at the festival. DIRECTOR Kaouther Ben Hania CAST Hind Rajab, Motaz Malhees, Saja Kilani & Amer Hlehel LANGUAGE Arabic SUBTITLES Dutch
